General Course Information
1. What does ASTI stand for?
ASTI stands for the American Safety Training Institute. The American Safety Training Institute delivers over 100 years of combined experience in the health and safety training industries to your business, organization, or family. We offer courses in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) techniques, first aid, and personal and workplace safety training. Our staff is comprised of safety training instructors, first responders, medical professionals, and fully trained and educated safety-centric customer service.
2. How long do I have access to the course and how many exam questions are included?
Upon enrollment, you are provided 2 years (730 days) of access to both the course content and exam. The course exam includes 25 questions, and you are provided unlimited exam attempts during this time frame.
3. What happens if I don't complete my course before the expiration date?
If your course has expired before you can successfully complete your exam, please contact NASM Member Services at 1-800-460-6276, option 3. Please note: Extension fees may apply.
4. What happens if I don't pass the exam?
If you fail an exam attempt, that's okay. We have provided you with unlimited exam attempts during your 2-year enrollment duration. We suggest you review the content to make sure you have a thorough understanding of the important information presented within this course. Once you feel confident, you can simply click the "Take the Exam" button to start your next attempt.
5. How do I access the course?
Once you have enrolled in the course, you can access it within the My Courses area of your NASM/AFAA student portal.
6. Where do I take the course exam?
The course exam can be found within the NASM/AFAA course itself. After you have studied the ASTI learning content, you will come back to the NASM course and click "Take Exam".
7. Do I still have access to the course content after I pass the exam?
You will have access to the content for 2-years (730 days) from your enrollment date.
8. Is there a hands-on skills check?
This course is completely online. A hands-on skills check is not included in this course.
9. Where do I access my CPR/AED certificate? Does it include a CPR/AED Card?
Your CPR/AED certificate will be in your NASM/AFAA Student Portal. Log in and go to the Certificates section where you can view, print or download.
10. Is there a digital copy of the certificate that is available?
Yes! Once you successfully completed the exam, your digital certificate will be available within the Certificates area of your student portal. Simply click on the "view" button to bring up the digital copy. If you are using a Smartphone, you may have the option to save the file to your phone, too.
11. Will the exam proctors accept this certification for my NASM/AFAA exams?
Yes. This course meets the current minimum requirements for the CPR/AED certification needed to sit for the exam. You can either present the printed hardcopy of your certificate or the digital copy on a personal mobile device.

12. Do I get NASM/AFAA CEUs for the course?
Yes! CPR/AED counts as 0.1 CEUs toward your NASM recertification requirements. Once you successfully complete your CPR/AED course, the CEUs will automatically update in your NASM Recertification Portal. No need to upload a copy of the certificate!

2. How do I renew my CPR/AED certification?
To renew your CPR/AED, you'll need to retake the course and pass the exam. Plan ahead to renew before your current certificate expires. To re-enroll in the course for renewal, you must contact Member Services at 1-800-460-6276, option 3.
The certification exam includes 25 questions and you have unlimited exam attempts.
